June Journies
It has been a busy month in June with lots of things happening out and about. I really enjoyed going to an “Are you prepared” workshop that talked about what we can do in emergencies like an Earthquake or a Flood. It was an exciting talk, especially because I know we have had events like that previously. I liked that they handed out backpacks at the end of the day as “go bags” to keep packed by the door in severe weather.
I also love going to the Historic Village and helping out by tidying there. I did some awesome sweeping on the pathway, making sure to get all the dust off the awesome painted pathway. It can be a bit tiring, but I was really shocked when we were rewarded a couple of weeks later with a clay cup making session!
The clay was a bit wet and gloopy but I was brave and made it into a super cool cup with nice straight sides. I am excited to have it dry so I can take it home and show my friends and family.
I had another super fun outing going to a friend from Arohanui’s house and getting bromillia succulents. I went down the path with the lady and helped her pull them out, she had so many and I loved the fun red colours of the leaves and then I was really happy to get back with enough time in the afternoon to actually replant them in our garden and water them.
They are looking nice and healthy when I walk past and see them now.
I had an absolute blast going to 10 pin bowling with my friends. It was a great way to celebrate with the crew that I have been volunteering with all term. I let my friends win that game but it was all about having fun, not who won.
There is so much glitter in the crafts we have been making! We have been making stars for our ball and hanging up fabric to change the colour of the room. There has been lots of hard work going into it, I know it is going to be a fun day, and hopefully I can be there for the next one.
We have been following the FIFA world cup this month. My team is Ivory Coast and I am excited to see them play. I enjoy when we can put it on in the sensory room on the big screen. The crowds there get so excited. It is an awesome atmosphere.
I am really excited to know we have more fun days coming up in July!
